Leaving on a Gypsy Weekend! Leaving Give Simple in capable hands, and taking off around noon. Four of us are going in one car, two following a few hours later. We’re headed to Round Top, a small Texas town known for a summer Antiques Fair, and Royer’s Café, where the pie is heaven and the help is surly.
Some “Budisms” from their website:
After 21 years, we’re still tellin em, “Sit down, shut up, and eat more pie”
Did you know that STRESSED spelled backwards is DESSERTS?
Ya don’t drive this far not to eat pie!

These girl’s weekends are a true treasure. I literally schedule the rest of my life around the dates so that I don’t miss one. These women restore my soul. Plus there’s always the possibility of laughing so hard that wine comes out your nose…

A few of my favorite things to take along on the trip
Pine Cone Hill flannel pajamas. From after dinner until after breakfast, this is the appropriate attire!!
M y usual armload of Metalsgirl Inspirational Bangles I’m wearing Love, Dream, Bliss, Grace, In Dog We Trust (an ongoing prayer for the comfort of my beloved Champ, 14 years old and hanging in there!).
Also wearing a hope wish that Robin, my friend from Dogeared tied onto my wrist in New York three weeks ago. Still hasn’t broken. I have hope that our country will heal out of this economic malaise, and we’ll come out more reasonable in our spending, but optimistic about the future. Also wearing my Dogeared Large Karma necklace–“what goes around comes around…wear your necklace as a reminder to keep the circle positive, peaceful and loving."
In my bag, a belated birthday gift for Lynne – let’s just keep it between us about what it is! She’s going to LOVE it!
